As you would expect, Im for a reset, after getting royally screwed by the AI 1.6 pick. It was also my fault for not realizing the short time frame for the draft start, I had tried to set the manual up the night before and gave up thinking it might be fixed next time on. By the time I got on I didnt know the draft had started, I got the heads up in the game messages and missed the pick by 1/2 hour.

As far as "revealing draft strategy" and "your hand", I can see whee there are a few who would consider that important, Im not one of them, I dont look at who got picked and when, I just pick in order of what I have as position importance and player rating, other than the players age in a leagues first draft. Im not the only one who got hurt by the players list not loading, so its not an even field at this point as far as Im concerned, thats my opinion. If I did not have a problem with the draft so far, I may have a different opinion, so I see both sides of the coin here. Also, is this an RO league or Custom? It shows as Custom on my League list. I am not a fan of RO leagues,

yeah, RO is horrible IMO, so no big deal on draft reset, I iwll prob be game not long after the draft and setting up the roster is done, then the AI coach and manager can do their thing, which is basically what an RO league is, you cant influence the play selection and use, you can only draft, get FAs, and trade - which will be very difficult to do in a league that is half owned or less.

RO wouldnt be so bad if you could influence the team play by the type of head coach, OC and DC that you have, but thats not the case at this point in the games development. So your games are going to have a lot of goaline offense and dive plays for little or no gain, ad nauseum.

yeah, some of us happen to like RO a lot better because the sharks that have played this game for so long and know all the tricks, allows us to have a chance too. I don't spend as much time on this website as may do and have very little interest in doing so just to try to win a silly computer game. I have 4 leagues going and 3 of them are RO's. I probably would not have joined this one were it not for the fact that i haven't drafted a team from scratch ij a long long time and am currently laid up for a while from some surgery. To each his own, i guess.

Can understand that completely Hondo, RO leagues dont require any time for gameplanning and any rule making. 4th and inches? Punt or FG try, every time. I think it would be great if the game required team managers to pick a full 40/30 plays (which Ive been asking JDB for a long, long time) and to limit the use of a play to 3-5 times per game, but it doesnt. Maybe some day, and it could be a league based setting/control by the league admin, not everyone wants to play with a full play selection and a limit on the number of times a play is used in a game. At least the heavy use of positional speed exploits has been reduced and/or eliminated, depending on the league settings. Overall, for someone who does not want to spend much time on this game, RO is the way to go, but not for me. :)

Both sides have their good and bad. The reason why I made this a RO league is because there aren't many out there compared to regular leagues, and I enjoy letting the randomness of the AI play out my games. And RO allows you to simply put together the best team you can and wait to see what happens!

But another reason why I went with a RO league is because it doesn't allow you to influence play selection, and chososing out of place players to be used on certain plays. Which allow you to exploit the current game engine. That's the main reason why I didn't go for a standard league. Because I'm sure as many of you know. MANY people run only a handful of plays on offense and defense, and build the roster in a certain way and win the league way. And when I realized that I was losing to the same people, who used the same plays, with the same roster build in every single league they had I simply left the league as I didn't see a point.

Take the CFL league for example. I took over the Bengals this season because it was a rebuild team and I wanted to test something out. The team wasn't in the best spot with overpaid players who weren't the best. And yet because I made some gameplan rules and signed specific players they went to the superbowl. But if that team had the same players and was run by AI there is no shot they even make the playoffs.

Am I blaming the people for doing it. NO. It is part of the game at this point so I can't fault them for trying to win. But I also don't have the time or drive to do all of that. As real life will always be a priority for me.

But I hope you all do stay and enjoy building up your own team from the ground up in your own vision!

Ah, didn't realise was RO league.

Not really my cup of tea, I'll stay for the draft and get the roster sorted, decide afterwards.

OOG ... I agree with your view on what it takes to win in both standard and custom leagues, which is why Ive been asking JDB to give league admins the choice for full play selection and max use of plays per game. That would open it up for varied competition and put more emphasis on the strength of the roster.

I am real hopeful that it will happen near future, the speed exploits have been addressed, putting players way out of their drafted or FA position is no longer an issue.

The only problem with RO is that it is repetitive in its own way, as far as the play calling. What would be great is if you could also give or have the coaches set up with a general control. Where you could have an "aggressive" HC who favors passing and going for it on 4th down situations. Or a "conservative" coach, who plays it safer, punts instead of long FG attempts if the kicker is 50% or less from long range. Also would be great if the asst coaches were a factor, where they both influence the player development and the gameplan in general. I dont see that happening anytime soon, I would be happy with the control on play selection and use. I picked up a team in MFN1, JDB's Beta League. They were 3-5 at the time, revamped the roster based on my player weights, got a few really good FAs, and used the limited play selection. They havnt lost a game yet, and in the CC game. Turnaround was immediate and really illustrates the narrow window of what is and what is not a winning roster & gameplan. The only alternative at this point is an RO league, which is the extreme opposite.
